Critics consider the series worthy of the cult comic

Although critics disagree on the extent to which the series is a successful adaptation of the source material, as well as the quality of Sturridge's lead role, they agree that the series is worth watching. While there's obviously still room for a full adaptation of the material, the Netflix series has certainly justified its existence, especially in its final five episodes.
