Novak Djokovic revealed when he will return to the courts
Novak Djokovic he didn't have the most successful 2024, but he won gold at the Olympic Games, which was certainly the most important thing for him. For some other tennis players, the Serbian's season would be the best or at least one of the best of his career, but by Djokovic's standards it was below average, as he did not win a single trophy.
Djokovic recently played in the Shanghai Masters final, losing to Yannick Siner, and then finished third behind the Italian and Carlos Alcaraz at an exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia.
- I will play in the first week of the season, I haven't decided where exactly yet - Djokovic revealed for "Sports Club".
Although he is not used to playing before the Australian Open, which is in mid-January, Djokovic looks set to warm up well for the first Grand Slam of the 2025 season.
"Tennis is still in focus - now we are going to "full" preparations, then again. I just needed to freshen up a bit after this year - are Djokovic's words.
After that, he realized that he needed a rest, so he decided to miss the Masters in Paris and the Final Masters in Turin, even though he was supposed to defend the trophy in both tournaments. This break will not cost him dearly, although he will certainly fall on the ATP list, which could be significant for tournament draws early next year.
It is interesting that he also played in 2023 before the Australian Open, and then, in addition to the title of the first Grand Slam of the season, he also won the cup in Adelaide, where he can appear again. Adelaide is on the schedule from January 6, and maybe he could play in Brisbane or Hong Kong, which start at the same time, but also a little earlier than Adelaide.
All three mentioned tournaments are from the 250 series, and at this moment it seems most realistic that he will perform in Brisbane, because if he appears in Adelaide, he will have to go to Melbourne right after it. Let's remind, Djokovic's main focus is the Grand Slams, and he still wants to play with Serbia in the Davis Cup.
