New sensation at the Australian Open: Sixth seed Casper Ruud eliminated

Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud has been eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open, losing to Jakub Menshick.

The Czech, ranked 48th in the world, was better than the sixth-ranked player on the ATP list by 3-1 in sets – 6:2, 3:6, 6:1, 6:4.

In the third round, Menshchik will play the winner of the match between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Ruud, who reached the fourth round in Australia in 2021, was a slight favorite against Menshick, but failed to justify it on the court.

Menshik opened the match better and made two breaks in the opening set. First in the fifth and then in the seventh game.

Ruud managed to come back and win the second set, but by the end it seemed that it was "only" the 19-year-old Menshick on the court.

The Czech tennis player made three more breaks by the end of the match, without losing a single one on his own serve.
