A new scam is spreading across Europe, targeting electric cars

Criminals have found a new way to defraud electric vehicle charging stations in Europe. Namely, it is about fake queer codes of chargers for electric vehicles. Some operators use queue codes to connect to payment card terminals to start charging, reports Poslovni dnevnik.

Now electric car drivers are being warned to be extra careful about where they carry their codes. Fraudsters have been caught swapping stickers and inserting queer codes that lead to a fake payment terminal, which then charges large amounts to the card. Such queer codes have been found in recent weeks in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy and Germany.

If you are not sure if the queer code is correct, it is recommended to use your own apps or carrier top-up cards.
