Politics entered the judiciary precisely through the Judicial Council. I always say that we have sunk to the bottom and I realize that where logic ends, Macedonia begins and that there is an even bigger bottom, which is unfortunate and sad, says lawyer Zvonko Davidovic for "Sloboden Pechat".

Citizens watched a new episode of the circus called the Judicial Council at today's session and witnessed new quarrels, arguments and accusations about the item on the agenda - the conflict of interests of the former president Vesna Dameva, for which there are accusations that she participated in proceedings in deciding the responsibility of judges, where her husband was a party.

The episode started with the argument between Dameva and the current president of the Judicial Council, Sashko Georgiev. Dameva accused that the Council has a selective approach to the media, after materials from today's session were delivered to only one portal.

- It is not transparent, but selective action and favoring one portal. There are portals that monitor the work of the Council and they should have been provided with materials to analyze the situation. Who and why gave those materials, some of which are about procedures from which the public is excluded? The conclusion is that this is a chase to damage my reputation - said Dameva.

Georgiev said that he was also contacted by journalists, but he directed them to the spokesperson and called for no manipulations.

The clash continued between Daneva and her predecessor Pavlina Crvenkovska, so other members followed.

- When each of us became a member of the Judicial Council, we had the obligation to ask ourselves if there were any cases where a conflict of interest might arise. It was her duty to ask where her husband or another family member might have items so that she could be exempted and her work would not be called into question - said Crvenkovska.

After the stormy reactions, the vice president Selim Ademi he told Dameva that he "should have known". Previously, she defended herself against members who accused her of not marrying, although she had to because her husband was a party to the court case being reviewed.

- I neither need nor had to know about business obligations for court proceedings and any proceedings for my husband because we do not discuss court matters at home. He doesn't know what I'm doing, nor do I know what court proceedings are being conducted, that's the first thing. Second, my husband and any member of my family are under no legal obligation to notify me for me to notify you. To be clear, this is what I have to say. As they tell me, so I report. And unlike members of the Judicial Council, when they may have had a conflict of interest, they did not notify us or did not give a reason for their dismissal, I did not do that. I announced clearly and loudly, let's stop this because we are creating a false image - said Dameva.

Lawyer Zvonko Davidovic says that what is happening in the Judicial Council is a consequence of the overall situation that has been going on for years in the judiciary and which was pointed out by the expert public and the international community for a long time.

– We forgot Priebe's report where many things were pointed out. There is constant talk about some kind of reforms, but not even a "r" of the reforms is being implemented, but some kind of make-up is being done by changing regulations. Now the situation is culminating because it is obvious that the system is completely destroyed, and the Judicial Council is not doing its job of being a barrier and guarantor for the autonomy and independence of the judiciary - says Davidovic for "Sloboden Pechat".

Forgetting Priebe, he adds, suits all parties and all tycoons and the business structure. The system does not work, and moral and social values are completely destroyed.

According to Davidović, politics entered the judiciary precisely through the Judicial Council, which is impermissible. So, the chairwoman of the Council referred to the Prime Minister, members were chosen for party coordination and the practice continued - whichever party came to power, put a hand to the judiciary because it is an extremely powerful tool for solving the problems they have with dissenters and for satisfying them. of political needs.

- All parties actively participated and we created a system in which there are no values, advancements, dismissals and choices are literally given by the sleeve, by sympathy, nepotism or by party affiliation, urgency - says Davidovic.

Among the series of problems, he cites the abuse of the term "prominent lawyer" for a good party staff who should be accommodated, as well as the Badenter majority, i.e. the decisions in the Judicial Council depend on the minorities, even though judges who judge Macedonian citizens are elected in the Council and citizens and do not see religious and national affiliation.

He cannot guess whether the peak of the "circus" in the Judicial Council has been reached or we are yet to see it.

- I always say that we have sunk to the bottom and I realize that where logic ends, Macedonia begins and that there is an even bigger bottom, which is unfortunate and sad. The solution is in conducting a complete evaluation. The vetting is for personnel who have yet to perform, and the judges need an evaluation of their work, combined with the origin of the property. But the same evaluation is necessary for politicians to see how much and what kind of property they have created since coming to power. I disagree with the assessment that few judges would stay clean after that evaluation. There are judges who work honestly and who are marginalized, because they do not answer to anyone, they cannot come forward, they end up as first instance judges and retire. That is why we are sinking. This is a complete destruction of society - says lawyer Davidovic.
