"It is quite normal that something has been agreed upon for us to accept, given that a special law was passed in the parliament, and a lot of money was given to Bechtel and Enka," said the director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads (JPDP). , Koce Trajanovski, in an interview for "360 degrees" on MRT 1.

"We entered into a financial obligation and we thought it would be better to reconsider whether we can put the project on the fast track, not pay penalties, hire Bechtel and Enka with all their machinery to complete this project and see results in the last three months", Trajanovski added about VMRO-DPMNE's surprising acceptance of the contract with "Bechtel and Enka" for the construction of the highways from corridors 8 and 10-d, after the opposition had previously been fierce critics of the contract and the way it was implemented was signed.

The government of SDSM and DUI, despite the harsh criticism of experts and the then opposition led by VMRO-DPMNE, decided to bypass the Law on Public Procurement and not to call for a tender, but to pass a special law entrusting it to .

The director of JPDP says that this project is one of the most important in the country, and the criticism of the current government, then the opposition, was on several grounds - from the fact that no bank is behind this contract, to the payment of penalties to "Bechtel and Enka" because the previous government did not respect the six-month deadline for the realization of the obligations assumed by the state, such as expropriation and demining.

"It is quite normal that we agreed to accept it, considering that a special law was passed in the parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, a lot of money was given to 'Bechtel and Enka', somewhere around 227 million euros for an advance, preparation, before I come as a director. However, we have entered into a financial obligation and we think it is better to reconsider whether we can put the project on the fast lane, not pay penalties, engage 'Bechtel and Enka' with all their machinery to complete this project and visible are the results of the last three months," Trajanovski said.
