"No one is naive to enter Bulgaria's game of endless compromises and vetoes, but the problem is a little bigger than what is presented in public, and that is the strategic decision of the large member countries, which has been such that there will be no enlargement for more than ten years ", says the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Vice President of VMRO-DPMNE, Aleksandar Nikoloski.

-The benefit of waiting is the preservation of national pride. No one is naive to enter Bulgaria's game of endless stipulations and endless vetoes. If this is the last to talk, and if it is not the last, we are not naive to suffer and have problems once again. And I think that I have often spoken about this in public and I stand behind the fact that the problem is a little bigger than what is presented in public, and the problem is the strategic decision of the large member states which, unfortunately, has been like this for more than ten years to have no expansion. The last politician who was honest about the process was the politician who was right among these others who are dishonest. And that is Jean-Claude Juncker, who was the president of the EC. He was honest enough to tell us all that there will be no enlargement, says Nikoloski in a guest appearance in "Samo interview" on "Channel 5", asked what we gain as a country by not currently entering into formal negotiations with the EU.

He mentioned the situation with other countries that are in the process of joining the EU.

- You see what is happening to Serbia. Serbia got a veto. Albania - Greece already announces a veto. Montenegro is negotiating, we have forgotten since when. Turkey is negotiating, we have forgotten since when. Everything is clear, Nikoloski believes.

During the mandates of the previous two European Commissioners for enlargement, there were no admissions of new members, and he is not confident even in the promises of the new European Commissioner, Marta Kos, that the EU for the first time has a real approach with which, by the end of the mandate of the current European Commission, one or more more candidate countries for membership.

- I don't see that. I don't see it because there are no such steps. Our hope is a fair relationship, and if this is really the last as we are told, let's make it the last, says Nikoloski in the context of the Government's proposal for constitutional amendments with delayed effect.

He emphasized that the focus is on implementing the reform agenda and the Growth Plan, that is, on infrastructure projects in the road and railway infrastructure.

- We are currently the only country in the region that will open three infrastructure projects for the new year. There is no other like it in the region. For the new year, we are opening the Kumanovo - Beljakovce railway, we are opening the Rankovce - Kriva Palanka expressway, and we are opening the first phase Prilep - Gradsko expressway. There is no other country that achieves this in the region, said Nikoloski and added that it is true that all these projects were built before, but he says, they were not completed, because all three were stuck, and now they are being completed.
