None of the families who took advantage of the subsidies and purchased the air conditioner while handing over the wood or coal stove to one of the points designated by the city authorities did not abuse and continued to heat with wood instead of an inverter.

This is the general conclusion of the teams of the Inspectorate of the City of Skopje, which in the past period, by random selection from the recipients of subsidies, went to the field and inspected whether the inverters are used as a basic means of heating their households. From the current situation on the ground, the inspectors concluded that they all respect the obligation to heat the homes with air-inverter.

-According to the conditions of the public call for subsidizing the citizens for the purchase of inverter air conditioners in individual residential households, they undertook to continue to heat their homes with them and to give up heating with solid fuels. In that direction, all persons who received subsidies (4577 subsidies were granted) were obliged to remove and hand over their solid fuel stoves at the points organized by us, which met the condition to receive the subsidy - remind the City of Skopje.

With this measure, with which the city authorities, in cooperation with the Government, enabled the interested citizens to replace their solid fuel stoves with more environmentally friendly heaters, ie air conditioners, they contributed to the number of less than 5.000 chimneys to stop smoking. in the Skopje Valley.

The city authorities warn that if during the inspection irregularities are found, ie if the field inspectors find that in a given family, despite the purchase of air conditioners, wood or coal stoves are still used for heating, they will be subject to appropriate sanctions. .

- We would like to mention that if during an extraordinary inspection a household is found that does not meet the conditions of the public call, on the same basis on the minutes of the competent inspector, it will be found non-compliance with the public call obligations and the person will be forced to return allocated funds - explain the procedure by the City of Skopje.

They announce that this year they will continue to find ways to provide a number of benefits to citizens for more green space heating, which will help reduce air pollution in the capital.

- The City of Skopje this year plans to announce a public call for subsidies for citizens for the purchase of inverter air conditioners, as well as for cleaning the chimneys - inform the City.

At the public call for subsidies, 5.000 citizens applied for subsidies for the purchase of inverters and most of them were accepted. A condition for the citizens to receive funds for procurement of inverter-air conditioner was all those interested in pre-determined points to submit the heaters they have used until then, such as wood stoves or coal stoves, and in return to receive funds for purchase of air conditioning. According to the conditions in the call, it was envisaged that the citizens would be fully reimbursed for the costs of purchasing inverters, but not more than 62.000 denars in net amount.

As informed by the authorities when announcing this call, the goal is to contribute to reducing air pollution in Skopje by reducing the number of chimneys that smoke to heat homes during the heating season, ie in the winter.
