The Czech proposal for visa liberalization for Kosovo expired today.

But at least two members prevented the proposal from getting the green light of the EU working group, claim Pristina media.

Spain filed an objection, while several other countries requested additional explanations, diplomatic sources claim for the Kosovo media.

The proposal of the Czech Republic, the country that currently holds the presidency of the EU, was to link the entry into force of the visa liberalization for Pristina with the operationalization of the ETIAS travel system, at the request of France, but at the same time a date for the implementation of the solution should be determined. no later than December 1, 2023."

Diplomatic sources, however, say that the created situation does not mean that the Czech proposal will not pass in the future, reports Kosovo online.

Now the Czech presidency is expected to clarify some technical issues in bilateral meetings with the countries that submitted the remarks.

Spain wants entry into force to be delayed until January 1, 2024 at the earliest. Spain takes over the EU presidency in July 2023.
