There is no end to bankruptcies, another German shoe retailer has failed

Germany / MIA

Shoe retailer Renault is insolvent. At least 180 branches in Germany and around 1.000 jobs were affected. As Wirtschaftsvohe reports, Renault Schuhcentrum GmbH has filed for bankruptcy.

On March 28, 2023, the district court in Hamelin ordered preliminary bankruptcy proceedings, Phoenix reports, H1 Info reported. The shoe retailer has around 300 branches in Europe and around 18 locations in Germany.

In total, about 1.000 jobs were affected by the bankruptcy. Renault is the second largest shoe retailer in Germany after Diechmann. The insolvency filing apparently only affects the German subsidiaries – not the sister companies in Austria and Switzerland.

The failed shoe chain got a new owner just six months ago. At the end of September, HR Group sold its footwear retail business.
