The Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Basil Nebenzia stated that Russia does not support the proposal to create a demilitarized zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

"The demilitarization of the nuclear power plant could make it vulnerable to those who want to visit it. "No one knows what their goals will be," said Nebenzia.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres called for the withdrawal of military personnel and equipment from the plant and insisted on avoiding military action near the plant.
