The decision for a non-working day on Sunday does not work

First it was decided that only twenty activities will work on Sunday, then thirty will work, so not a single shop will work, so only those in the malls will work and after all the "upgrades" the new news arrived - on Sunday everything will work in the tourist places. Who knows if this is the last decision of the government…

It is already clear - in the tourist places everything will work on Sunday. The Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi during his visit to the Ohrid-Struga region clearly and loudly said that the Ministry of Economy proposed amendments to the Law on Trade, which allow work on Sundays and holidays to all traders - both retail and wholesale - in tourist places. Experience has taught us that once a proposal is made, in practice it is already a done deal.

Maybe you should work in the tourist places on Sunday. Ohrid, Struga, Dojran, Berovo live in and for the tourist season. But, if that is the case and if it is considered "tourist", things should have been set that way from the very beginning. Thus, Sunday, a non-working day, became a real fiasco, with which the government once again showed what a "pious pilgrim" it knows how to be.

First, a list of activities that must be done on Sundays was compiled, due to the nature of the work process. Then that list was expanded and upgraded - a few more activities were added. Then the Government boldly and uncompromisingly announced: no store will be open on Sunday! Soon, they also loudly and loudly announced that some would still work - the malls. Well, first they would work until 18 pm, but then that did not apply, so they announced that they would work until 20 pm. Finally, here is the new news - everything will work in the tourist places.

What kind of planned, strategic seriousness are we talking about with such a daily change of attitudes and decisions? The justification of the Government, packaged in the fact that the changes are a virtue, ie that in the executive power they listen to the remarks of the citizens, and thus react, does not hold water. It is clear to everyone that it is not a matter of hearing remarks, but of succumbing to pressure from oligarchs, and probably from political powerbrokers.

After much sorting out, many tails were left behind on a non-working day. The big markets first destroyed the neighborhood shops. Market competition has done that. Now the unfair competition will hit hard on all those who do not have a market in the mall. On Sunday it is full of buyers through the malls, they have become an institution for our citizens not only for shopping, but also for walking. You have nowhere to go, go to the mall. And buy something. At least тно

On the other hand, the Constitutional Court still has the initiative of the Economic Chamber of Northern Macedonia to review the constitutionality of the decision Sunday non-working day. The court informed earlier this year that the Chamber of Commerce had challenged the amendments to the Labor Law and the Law on Trade, which refer to a non-working day on Sunday, citing the constitutional rights of equality and freedom of the entrepreneurial market. . The Chamber of Commerce then announced: "In the spirit of constructive cooperation, Prime Minister Kovacevski and President of the Chamber of Commerce Azeski agreed that on February 18 the Chamber will withdraw the initiative from the Constitutional Court regarding the legal solution for Sunday non-working day and that in the forthcoming period will find comprehensive solutions to law enforcement challenges. " The Chamber confirmed to us yesterday that the initiative is still active…

It would not be strange if something else changed in connection with Sunday non-working day. The number that both the government and the unions were proud of is that Sunday is a non-working day for 92 percent of the workers. With the melting of that number, the citizens' trust in the weight of the word given by the government also melts.
