I do not rule out a veto for S. Macedonia, to sober up the politicians, says the ex-speaker of the Bulgarian parliament
"I don't want extreme measures, but maybe we should go there - impose a veto to sober up these politicians. I don't rule it out." said former Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament and Professor of Law, Ognyan Gerdzhikov, for the Bulgarian television "Nova".
The reason for this, as explained by Gerdzhikov, is the "escalation of tensions against the Bulgarians" in the country.
"Bulgaria could not show the world the state of relations and the historical truth with the Republic of Macedonia, while the Macedonians did. Things are deeply rooted for a long time. A special chauvinism, anti-Bulgarian feelings developed in Macedonia. This is a very delicate subject, a very diplomatic approach is needed here. They lose more, with this confrontation their path to the EU is cut off or at least delayed. Why should we deviate from the names of the Bulgarian cultural clubs – Vancho Mikhailov and Tsar Boris the Third?” asked Gerdzhikov.
According to him, there is a danger that the next parliament will repeat what happened so far.
"I hope this is the last rotation - parliaments in a few months. Unfortunately, I can't be sure. "The crisis is in the lack of dialogue, because the party's selfishness prevails over the national interests," says Gerdzhikov.
