It's not just Xhaferi's son: Ivanovska from DKSK says that the bar exam was taken prematurely
The President of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) Biljana Ivanovska says that the premature passing of the bar exam was a mass phenomenon at the time when the son of Talat Xhaferi, Bartlett Jaffery, passed the bar exam before graduating.
Ivanovska said in the show "Top Topic" on "Thelma" that it is wrongly interpreted in the public that Anticorruption is not opening a case on the case of Barlet Xhaferi. She says "it's not that we don't want to, but we can explore as far as we can".
- We started one case, but unfortunately I think it was a mass phenomenon at that time. He caught the attention that he is the son of a well-known official, but immediately after that case I told about another such case, but it did not reach the public because he is not well-known, said Ivanovska.
What caught their eye, she says, is that they noticed that in February 2015, Xhaferi passed the bar exam, and in July of the same year, he acquired 300 credits, that is, he completed his master's degree.
The president of the SCCC indicated that they could not find out who allowed Barlet Xhaferi to apply for the position of lawyer or judge, even before he even became a lawyer.
- And that is our problem, that's why for us the procedure stops here, said Ivanovska, adding that they requested data from all institutions and that the target for them is the officials.
Since then, as he said, seven years have passed and the work is obsolete. However, added Ivanovska, in order to launch any initiative, they need to have a document, because they cannot do it based on assumptions.
– We brought the case to light. At that time this was a phenomenon. I have received information that many people applied to take the bar exam prematurely, as if there was a gray area during that period, emphasized Ivanovska.
Therefore, as he concluded, their recommendation that came out of the last session, is that the Ministry of Justice should open a place on the website with documents of all those who have registered as candidates for the bar exam and not to cancel them, and asked the inspectors to determine whether the legal provisions are applied or abuses are made again.
- We should have a system resistant to nepotism and corruption that will reject them by itself. Maybe those children are worth it, but maybe they aren't, and they take the place of the ones that are worth it, said Ivanovska.
