NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg called on Russia to agree to inspections at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant located in Ukraine and under Russian control.

"It is urgently necessary to allow an inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency and to guarantee the withdrawal of all Russian forces," Stoltenberg told a news conference in Brussels.

According to him, the fact that Russian military forces seized the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant "represents a serious threat to the safety and security of that facility."

"It increases the risk of a possible nuclear accident or incident and endangers the population of Ukraine, neighboring countries and the international community," he added.
