Attacker who hammered Pelosi's husband also wanted to attack Tom Hanks and Biden's son
The man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, also had plans to attack them Hunter Biden, the governor of California Gavin Newsom and the actor Tom Hanks.
San Francisco Policewoman, Carla Harley, told the court that the attacker of Pelosi's husband, David DePape, revealed a list of his targets to her during an hour-long conversation at the hospital shortly after the attack in October, NBC reports.
A previous court filing said DePape named several prominent state and federal politicians, their relatives and a local professor, but did not identify any of them.
According to the federal indictment, DePape is charged with attempted kidnapping and assault. He also faces a number of state charges, including attempted murder, burglary of a habitation, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment of an elderly person and making threats against a public servant and their family. DePape pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Hurley said DePape also talked about conspiracy theories that fueled the attack. One of DePape's targets was Newson, a Democrat and the governor of California starting in 2019. His other target was Biden's son, Hunter.
Biden has been a political target of the right in recent years, especially after the New York Post reported in October 2020 that there were incriminating emails between the president's son Hunter and a Ukrainian businessman.
Actor Tom Hanks, meanwhile, has endorsed Joe Biden, appearing alongside him at a massive 2020 fundraiser. DePape will be arraigned on December 28.
