A drone strike caused a fire and forced an evacuation in Russia's Tver region
A Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire and forced the evacuation of part of the population in the Russian region of Tver.
-Parts of the destroyed Ukrainian drone caused a fire in the city of Toropets, in the western part of the Tver region, the governor of the region northwest of Moscow, Igor Rudenj, wrote on Telegram.
Rudenj added that firefighters are trying to localize the fire, but did not say what was burning.
He also said Russian air defense units were still trying to repel a massive drone attack on the city.
Schools and kindergartens are closed in parts of Russia's Tver region, the local administration said, following reports of a Ukrainian drone strike in the region.
According to Russian media, Russia is building a storage facility for rockets, ammunition and explosives in Toropets, a 1.000-year-old town with more than 11.000 residents.
Seven Ukrainian drones were also destroyed over the western region of Smolensk, the governor of that region bordering Belarus, Vasiliy Anokhin, wrote on Telegram.
Another 14 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine, and several more were destroyed over the Oryol and Tula regions, the governors of those regions said.
Kiev has previously said Ukraine's attacks on Russia are targeting military, energy and transport infrastructure critical to Moscow's war effort.
