At least 26 people have drowned after a boat carrying migrants sank off the coast of Senegal.

Local officials fear that the number of victims could be higher. It is assumed that there were over 200 people on board.

The Senegalese navy said that during the rescue operations, they intercepted two boats with a total of 421 migrants, including 20 children.
