In the floods and landslides caused by the tropical storm in the Philippines, 110 people died and more than 2,4 million were affected, the national disaster agency said today.

As reported by DPA, 33 people are still missing, and over 100 are injured.

The affected areas suffered major flooding after Typhoon Nalga brought heavy rains days before it hit the eastern Philippines on Saturday.

Nalga had moved away from the Philippines, but a new tropical storm was moving toward the country's east coast and was expected to bring more rain, the weather service said.

However, Storm Banyan is expected to weaken into a tropical depression, the service added.

The Philippine archipelago is affected by an average of 20 tropical cyclones every year
