Legal changes announced for more money and their better distribution for development of regions

Today, the Minister of Local Self-Government Goran Milevski attended the commissioning of the section of the local road to the regional landfill Rusino, in the municipality of Gostivar.

- The proposed amendments to the law were also discussed with the Prime Minister. They provide more funds, and thus we will be able to further finance the regions and maintain balanced development. So far, only the Ministry of Local Self-Government has participated and taken care of the balanced development and equitable financing. The other ministries, although investing in the development of the country, did not pay enough attention to the balance. The new changes envisage a methodology according to which the other ministries will allocate funds according to the needs of the regions. So far there have been problems, but with the new law it would be overcome, said Milevski.

The mayors of the municipalities of Tetovo and Gostivar, Teuta Arifi, Arben Taravari and the director of the Bureau for Regional Development Ramiz Rexhepi were with the Minister at the promotion of the project for rehabilitation of the local road leading from the locality Sushicki Most to the landfill Rusino.

Minister Milevski emphasized that for the first phase of the rehabilitation of about 2,5 km of the road, 24,5 million denars were allocated. He expressed hope that next year will find enough money for the second half and its complete completion, and for this year, as he stressed, for the projects in the Polog planning region, the ministry has allocated another 55 million denars.

In order to solve the problem with garbage disposal, Milevski said that additional funds have been allocated for the preparation of project documentation for the construction of an alternative road that will connect the landfill with the highway Gostivar-Kicevo.

Regarding the construction of the alternative road, the mayor stressed that it will significantly stop the pollution of the environment and the urban environment, especially along the route of the trucks with communal waste. He once again called on the central government to find a solution for the regional landfills or to restore management powers at the local level. That, she said, would avoid disasters like the one a month ago when the landfill was burning for two days.

As the mayor of Tetovo Teuta Arfi pointed out, this project is a result of the cooperation of nine municipalities and that it is a good basis for further cooperation.
