Over 40 percent of the territory of Ukraine is mined
Over 40 percent of the territory of Ukraine has been mined during the military operations, British television "Sky News" announced today, referring to the non-governmental Mines Advisory Group.
According to the NGO, Ukraine is the country with the most mines in the world.
"The preoccupation (with mines) is huge. It cannot be compared to Syria or Afghanistan", said Katerina Templeton, representative of the organization.
As stated, in the period from February 24 last year to January 10 this year, at least 611 people were killed by mines in Ukraine.
Demining the Ukrainian territories is estimated to take several years.
