Over 150.000 people in Turkey were left homeless, 6.000 buildings were destroyed

At least 150.000 people in Turkey were left homeless in the strong earthquake in the south of the country, the International Committee of the Red Cross said.

It is estimated that around 6.000 buildings were destroyed.

So far, it is known that more than 5.000 people died in Turkey and Syria, when a magnitude 7,8 earthquake hit southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria.

About 23 million people in Turkey and Syria were affected by the earthquake, of which 13,5 million people are from Turkey, the Turkish Minister of Development, Urbanism and Climate Change said. Murat Kurum, ABC reported.
