Applied for appanage

"Proletarians" from all parties united in silence in response to a proposal to abolish compensation for former elected and appointed officials.

Any proposal to abolish privileges is good, especially if it unloads the budget and comes in a time of crisis. The Left did not propose to the Parliament to abolish the financing of the parties, but still asked the former elected and appointed officials not to receive compensation in the amount of salary for a period of one year after the termination of the function.

The idea aroused the "proletarians" of all parties to unite in silence in response to this initiative (every honor to the exceptions). The elected MPs from the big parties, of course, refused with indignation, as they had previously stood behind their colleagues from the parliamentary seats Silvana Boneva and Mira Stojcevska-Diesel. Defending their dishonestly earned tens of thousands of euros, they also defended their privileges for alleged travel expenses.

"I am not one of those who, in addition to work, also have businesses. "Until I get organized, I will use appanage." This statement by the former Deputy Prime Minister Nikola Dimitrov, one of the three from the former government of Zoran Zaev who asked for appanage, is a testimony to the existence of businesses that flourish for some while in office, even if the "defenders" were municipal or other officials who decide on tenders. Only a handful of them are later pressured to say in front of a courthouse where their money comes from in the name of their children - from birthday presents and cakes. Those who believe know that such gifts are given in cash in an envelope. The ribbon is optional.

The legal requirement for the payment of compensation to employees who "stayed on the street" is to have at least nine months of uninterrupted service, or 12 months with interruption. But ex-workers are more equal than ordinary people. The six-month break in the work of the MP Petar Naumoski in the parliament (after which he only came to sign for a moment and left), was not an obstacle for him to receive an appanage when his mandate ended in 2006. In four years, the playmaker has appeared in Parliament nine times in this transitional game, although more than 300 sessions have been held.

"The parliamentary function is specific and it is difficult to find a job given that it is publicly criticized from the rostrum of the parliament," said some tribunes without a gram of self-criticism. Maybe, but not in Macedonia, where the partisan state is the biggest employer, and the competition for bots is constantly open. There will somehow be a place for the "former" under the budget sun. As a punishment - in a public enterprise that remained under party control in the alternating swing of those in power.

Professor Borce Davitkovski is right when he says that the poorer, less democratic and more captive the state, the greater the privileges for the incumbents. At the same time, the distortion of the value system should be a concern, as soon as ex-officials - doctors and professors, agree not to return to their previous jobs for a whole year because their salary is lower than the appanage. The framework principle "sit at home, get paid" demotivates staff who in different ways can really be useful to society.

The famous phrase of John F. Kennedy - "do not ask what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" in the case is modified to "if I could give so much to the country, it can give me more a year later. " Typical of self-righteous, vain, vindictive officials. Even former ones.

On the account of the MPs who are against the abolition of the appanage, every first of the month is paid from 65.000 to 80.000 denars, depending on the length of service and whether they chair committees. Former ministers and their deputies are not far behind either. The state is currently trying to curb inflation, borrowing to provide expensive energy, and helping social cases pay their electricity bills. All this is not enough to raise awareness and conscience in the legislature. On the contrary, they still shamelessly complain that their salaries have been frozen since 2010. Applied for appanage, what else to say.
