There are no pedestrian crossings on Simeon Kavrakirov Street in Michurin, everyone is running to get where they want to go.
The Municipality of Aerodrom, under whose jurisdiction this street is, has so far not responded to whether reconstruction of this road is planned or at least marking it with more pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, etc. to increase the safety of all traffic participants.
Concerned citizens from the Michurin neighborhood indicate that Simeon Kavrakirov Street is unsafe for pedestrians because for years there has been almost no horizontal or vertical signaling on it. As they say, there are only two pedestrian crossings on the street, one is located at the traffic lights near the "Roulette" cafe and the other near the "Blaze Koneski" elementary school. Due to their remoteness, as they claim, most citizens cross the street illegally, even running to where they will reach, which endangers their safety.

There were pedestrian crossings at both intersections on the street in the past, but they have not been renovated for decades, and there is no vertical pedestrian crossing signage or prescribed speed limit.
Another problem faced by residents, who say that this street is "crying" for reconstruction, is illegal parking on the sidewalks, which forces pedestrians, whether they like it or not, to move around on the street.
Until the parking issue is resolved, these two intersections are very dangerous because visibility when entering the street is reduced to a minimum. There are regularly cars and even large vans on the sidewalks, creating dangerous situations for both drivers and pedestrians. The pedestrian crossings at the very end of the street near "Block Cafe" are also poorly visible, but at least there is a sign that there is a pedestrian crossing there - says a resident of the settlement.
In the group where airport workers regularly point out the problems they face in their daily lives, "Aerodrom Municipality-Civil Patrol", citizens also point out the unsafe intersection.
The busiest intersection in Aerodrom, unmarked, pedestrians here have a daily struggle not to be run over by someone. It urgently needs to be solved with a roundabout or something similar, and of course, not only this street but all the others should be marked before someone gets hurt – says one of the comments.
To this point, the Municipality of Aerodrom, under whose jurisdiction Simeon Kavrakirov Street is located, has not responded as to whether reconstruction of this road is planned or at least marking it with more pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, etc. to increase the safety of all traffic participants.

So far, all appeals from the citizens of Aerodrom have been in vain regarding Vasko Karangelevski Street, where even after a year and a half of reconstruction, only lying police officers are left, and no safer solution has been found for the intersection in front of the school.
Parents of students, concerned about their children who cross the intersection every day to get to school, held a peaceful protest in December and demanded from the city authorities a new traffic solution that would increase safety on the boulevard. They pointed out that traffic lights must be installed, because only then would the safe movement of all road users be ensured.
The City of Skopje, in a response to "Sloboden Pechat" a few months ago, emphasized that measures have already been taken and that the installation of traffic lights is planned, but this must be approved by the Ministry of Interior. They explained that several measures have been implemented to increase traffic safety, such as school zones, vibrating lanes and other measures that significantly contribute to reducing vehicle speed.
A project has also been prepared for the introduction of new traffic lights at the intersection between Vasko Karangelevski and Angel Dimovski streets, which, in accordance with the Law on Road Traffic Safety, has been submitted to the SVR Skopje and is still awaiting the necessary approval for its implementation. So far, the City of Skopje had submitted a traffic light project (traffic lights) to the Sector of Internal Affairs for the same location, but it was rejected three times and for that reason it could not be implemented in the field - they explained.
The PE "Parks and Greenery" also confirmed to the public that a request for traffic lights has been submitted to the Ministry of Interior several times, which has been rejected several times.
The City of Skopje completed the construction of this street in the fall of 2023, which provides traffic connections to three main boulevards in the municipality – ASNOM, Jane Sandanski and Treta Makedonska Brigadija. The street has two lanes in both directions, 1100 meters long, bicycle and pedestrian paths, and a new storm sewer has been constructed.
The City boasted at the time that this traffic solution increases the safety of all traffic participants, but in practice it turned out that this is not the case.
