According to cyclists, the solution to congestion is complete streets that will allow equal use of all modes of transport: walking, cycling and scooting, using public transport, using a car

Expansion of lanes Instead of facilitating traffic and reducing congestion, it contributes to an increase in the number of vehicles used, which in turn affects the increase in noise levels, air pollution and parking problems, according to the "On Wheels" initiative.

Therefore, according to cyclists, the solution to congestion is not new car lanes.

Most road extensions temporarily make it easier to use a car, making it faster in the early years, until people create new patterns of movement, working and living farther, having activities farther away, etc., because the network allows it. In other words, the expansion of the roads encourages longer journeys and more kilometers by car and increases the time spent in the car, and thus pollution, noise, the effect of climate, quality of life. And, yes, it increases the problem with parking, because more people opt for a car for more trips - explain cyclists.

According to them, the solution is the so-called complete neighborhoods where the necessities of daily life (market, shops, services, kindergarten, school, sports fields, quality public spaces, parks) are located close to pedestrian and bicycle distances to everyone.

The solution to traffic jams are complete streets that will allow all modes of transport to be used equally: walking, cycling and scooting, using public transport, using a car. It can also be said that in fact, congestion is not the problem. The problem is the structure of the city. The problem is that we lack functions and quality spaces in the neighborhoods. The problem is that the street space is not fairly distributed. And congestion will continue as long as cities exist. The question is whether we want congestion of pedestrians and bicycles, lively public space and heavy public transport or congestion of cars. The question is whether we want congestion in 2 lanes for cars or congestion in 6 lanes for cars - the cyclists from the "On Wheels" initiative are interested.
