Snezana is overwhelmed, instead of having a modern farm, she should "spit" on her labor and save herself from suffering

We are talking to Snezana Taneva, a woman farmer and fighter to the last breath, who says for "Women's Press" / "Free Press" that she has only one percent hope that she will succeed in this country! Faced with a bunch of injustices and ignorant attitude from the competent institutions, and on the other hand, with hard work from morning till night, this experienced woman farmer, professional and hard worker, is so overwhelmed that instead of enjoying respect and fulfilling her dream of a modernized farm, she is on the verge of "spit" on his labor and save himself from suffering.

Although, according to some unwritten rule, boys inherit property or agriculture, this was not the case with us because my brother had health problems and my sister chose another profession.

Snezana Taneva is an exceptional woman, primarily because of her tireless commitment to work, but also because she is a guardian of the family tradition. She grew up in a cattle family where the only subsistence was the farm and agriculture. Her father was a successful farmer, at a time when ranchers enjoyed great respect and earnings. Everything her father earned was from honest work. Snezana and her brother and sister grew up with cows and sheep, grazing them, playing with lambs, and when a calf or lamb was born, it was a great joy for the family because the income came.

- When my father managed the property, he wanted me to inherit it. I honestly did not want to. I wanted to get married and save myself from hard work. But fate devised another plan for me. Although, according to an unwritten rule, boys inherit property or agriculture, this was not the case with us because my brother had health problems and my sister chose another profession. Well, I had to take matters into my own hands - this knight begins her life story.

She did not even dream of what awaited her. While her father worked, earned and created, Snezana and her family today only survive, living day by day. And not through her fault.

The relation Mrzenci - Gevgelija is daily, several times. They raise about 150 sheep and five cattle. The farm produces fresh sheep and cow milk, and lamb and calf meat.

- Honestly, if I had known what awaited me, I would never have taken on this challenge - she admits and adds - you are struggling a lot, and the market prices offered by the state are not profitable. Today the cattle breeder is not protected, the work has reached the point where whoever manages, will survive.

The farm is located in the village of Mrzenci, and Snezana lives with her husband and children in Gevgelija. The relation Mrzenci - Gevgelija is daily, several times. They raise about 150 sheep and five cattle. The farm produces fresh sheep and cow milk, and lamb and calf meat. People have learned what they produce, so production and redemption flow smoothly. But you can not move forward, you can not develop, to modernize with more modern technology, to increase, to have better working conditions, says Snezana.

- You work on a farm from morning till night and you are engaged every day. - There is a commitment to work all day because there are lambs, calves, milking, feeding, pasture management, sometimes there is a sick animal е It is very difficult, but when existence requires it, you have to do it - she explains.

Her husband, brother, sister, son-in-law, mother and cousins helped her a lot to survive on the farm, because it is impossible to run the farm alone - it requires a lot of manpower and organization, it has many responsibilities and everything has to be done as a team. Even children come to the rescue when they are relieved of their school responsibilities.

You work on a farm from morning till night and you are busy every day. It's very difficult, but when existence requires it, you have to do it

Snezana has long dreamed of succeeding in Macedonia and creating a large and successful farm, but she says it depends on many other factors, not just her. One of her main problems is the legalization of the farm. First, she managed to move - she had to dislocate the herd, so with the help of the National Federation of Farmers she managed to get a plot of land from the municipality of Gevgelija.

- 10 years ago, the municipality displaced us on the hill and allowed us to build a prefabricated herd, in a public place. "We made a canopy without electricity, we barely provided water, and the sewerage has not been resolved yet," she said.

Not only that, but because she does not have a title deed, she can not invest or apply for foreign investment, and thus is doomed to stumble, to bother from today to tomorrow. It cannot modernize its economy, it cannot prosper. For ten years she advocated for the legalization of the farm. She is so overwhelmed by injustices and the lack of interest and ignorance of the competent institutions that she wants to give up everything and even leave the country.

for ten years she advocated for the legalization of the farm.

- Yes, I have come many times to sell everything and get rid of these rolling through the institutions. And, you know, we cattle breeders were not placed anywhere in any of the government packages, and we are the brand of the state, we produce food, and now in a time of pandemic we keep them all - adds Snezana.

However, it is not so easy to raise your hands, to surrender:

- I am 99 percent determined to give up, but there are some legal obligations to the family, because my brother is a single parent and I have to help him. Otherwise, I have only one percent hope that I will succeed in our country.

She is so overwhelmed by injustices and the lack of interest and ignorance of the competent institutions that she wants to give up everything and even leave the country.

She is well informed about how farmers, stockbreeders and farmers live in Europe. He tells us that wherever you work in Europe, you will be recognized and legalized, and even rewarded, because you are a farmer, because you raise animals and produce food.

"Farms in Europe have the most modern technology, they have spacious pastures, they are monitored by drones, they work in luxurious conditions and they are legally protected," explains this woman with her hands tied and with the last hope of support.
