It is not the prime minister's job to evaluate the editorial policy of the media

The independent union of journalists and media workers strongly reacts to the Prime Minister's statement Dimitar Kovacevski with which he embarked on the qualification and revision of the editorial policy of certain media.

Asked to comment on the DUI leader's statement Ali Ahmeti, with which he accused TV Alfa and TV Thelma of being "enemies of the Albanians", Prime Minister Kovacevski said:

"As far as I'm concerned, I can say that there is a media in the country whose editorial policy is more like an editorial policy that trades in energy, and there is also a media whose editorial policy is more like the editorial policy of a party communication department."

The union says that officials must be careful with their words when it comes to the media.

"We believe that state officials, especially when it comes to the most powerful state position, must be careful with what they say, because pointing the finger at certain media for various reasons puts media professionals in an unenviable position, who are then the target of various attacks, speech of hatred and the like. Such labeling of the media is also an attack on the freedom of expression and the freedom of the media, that is, on journalists and media workers, which must not happen in a democratic society", say SSNM.

"We point out that the public, i.e. the citizens, must not be underestimated by anyone, and they are the ones who make the final judgment on whether a certain media is doing its job well or not, which is of public interest," SSNM added.
