Juan Martin Del Potro's knees have failed, he can't even drive
The Argentinian is struggling with his health, he can't climb stairs, he can't even drive a car like everyone else. He says he was left with nothing
Argentinean Juan Martin Del Potro, winner of the US Open, had to prematurely end his tennis career due to severe injuries.
Delpo faces great difficulties and cannot get used to life without tennis. Several operations were performed on him, but all of them did not help him to return to the field. In fact he cannot lead a normal life because of knee problems.
- Today I can only walk on the street. I can't even climb stairs without pain. I can't drive a car for a long time, I have to take a break to stretch my legs. That is my reality, it is difficult and sad for me - says Delpo.
He had to stop playing tennis quickly. Here is how he describes those moments.
– I did not have a gradual transition to retirement. I had no chance to prepare. I was the third tennis player in the world and suddenly both my knees were broken, now I am here where I am with nothing - says the popular former tennis player.
The Argentine (34) has won 22 ATP titles, and since 2018 he has had four operations.
