At about forty minutes after midnight, it was reported to SVR Tetovo that on the Tetovo-Skopje highway, near Karpalak, a passenger vehicle "Volkswagen Polo" with Skopje license plates, driven by the 21-year-old with the initials V.I. from Sedlarci, municipality of Vasilevo, a bear hit and killed it.

The driver was injured in the accident and was taken to the Tetovo Clinical Hospital for medical assistance.

The scene of the accident was inspected by a team from the Tetovo Sector for Internal Affairs.

On the Gostivar-Tetovo-Skopje highway, animals, mostly stray dogs, as well as bears, wolves and foxes, sheep and horses, rabbits often cross the roadway, causing traffic accidents.

The SVR - Tetovo says that the main problem is the unsecured highway where the safety net is often missing or damaged and animals move freely on the highway.

From there, with an appeal to the authorities to control the roads and ensure that they are secured with an appropriate network, in order to avoid such traffic accidents. According to police statistics, over 100 traffic accidents are registered during a year - caused by animals.

And 6 months ago also near the village of Karpalak on the highway Tetovo - Skopje, Kumanovo Afrim Isufi had a dangerous encounter with a bear.

Isufi told Albanian media at the time that he managed to get out alive and unharmed after a 30-minute drama.

"I was coming from Gostivar, going home to Kumanovo. A few kilometers after passing the first toll booth in Tetovo, I was driving at a normal speed, suddenly my Golf 5 car hit something in front, on the right side. Then my car flew into the air and fell to the ground after a few meters. Somehow I managed to stop the car in the middle of the highway and I see steam coming out of it. At first I thought it must be some wild boar, because it was something very powerful. I got out of the car and see a large animal coming my way. It was terrible and nothing could be seen. "I got scared and got into the car, which was badly damaged," says Isufi.

"I barely got out alive": Kumanovec told about a "close encounter" with a bear on the Tetovo-Skopje highway
