Ministry of Interior: International drug transport channel cut, 32 kilograms of marijuana seized

At the entrance to Gostivar, in a joint action of the Criminal Police Department - Section for Illegal Drug and Weapons Trafficking, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit Tigar, the Department for Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime, SVR Ohrid, SVR Struga, SVR Tetovo and SVR Gostivar, coordinated from the Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption in Skopje, international transport of 32 kilograms of marijuana, worth around 120.000 euros, from the Republic of Albania to the Republic of North Macedonia was prevented today.

As informed by the Ministry of the Interior, two Mercedes passenger vehicles with Skopje license plates were stopped at the scene. The first, in which there were K.L. (35) from Skopje, residing in Gorna Matka, V.B. (46) from Skopje, residing in Gorna Matka and the Albanian citizen G.J. (42), was the predecessor. And in the second one, which was managed by MA (44) from the village of Grcec, the drugs were transported.

- At a stop sign given by police officers, the vehicle did not stop and tried to run away, but was soon stopped and three bags with about 32 kilograms of marijuana were found in the trunk. The criminal group was organized from September 2023 by the Albanian citizen, who was wanted with a warrant in the Republic of Albania and other countries of the European Union, also for the illegal sale of narcotics - according to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior.

In the period from September until now, he organized the transport of drugs from Albania to our country, after which he organized a network of resellers in Skopje.

The persons, as informed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, were deprived of their liberty, and during the day, with a court order, searches were carried out at five locations in Skopje, during which marijuana and other material evidence of their involvement in the commission of the crime were found. After complete clearing and documentation of the case, appropriate criminal charges will be filed against the persons.
