The Director of the Turkish Cultural Center "Yunus Emre", Arif Konak, at a press conference announcing the concert, emphasized that in the last six months, as long as he has been leading the Center, it is a great honor for him to bring Turkish culture closer to the Macedonian people.
- The "Wind of Anatolia" concert will be a great end to the year with two outstanding musicians from Turkey. We have been dedicated to this project for six months. The first stop of this concert will be Skopje. Jazz is a western culture, but these extraordinary musicians will create a beautiful fusion with traditional Turkish music in a wonderful way - Konak said.
Young Anil Shaliel says he is overjoyed to be able to present Turkish music in Macedonia.
– We start the tour from a very important city. For me, this is a dream come true. My music has become the subject of doctoral studies at many universities. Turkish music is very old and comes from the Ottoman period, jazz is a newer music for Turkey. We promise an hour and a half visual concert with a very beautiful story. We use old recordings by Ashik Weisel, in a new arrangement. You will also hear poetry from Yunus Emre and Mevljana. This will not be just a musical performance, but a theatrical presentation. We will have very good performers with us and we promise you will be amazed. How much I explain the music, I won't be able to capture it for you. On Thursday, we will be musicians in front of you - said Shalie.
He adds that he is grateful to everyone who helped to realize this project. "Jazz is not just a music of sounds, it is a music to be understood. You have to put your own self in the music,” said Mareechi Asu.
– We started with Sufi music, then we worked to make it modern. I combined Sufi expression with rock music, and later Anil and I combined Turkish music with jazz. In the many meetings we discussed how to give the old Turkish music a modern version. Music shows our past, but also our present. The roots should not be forgotten. The music touched my heart, I hope that will happen to the audience in Skopje as well - said Asu.
When asked if they follow Macedonian music, Shaliel singled out Jambo Angjushev and pointed out that he has the feeling that the musicians receive a good musical education here. He invited everyone to come to the concert in Skopje.
