Muslims in Indonesia burned the flags of Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands after gathering outside the Swedish Embassy in Jakarta to protest the burning of copies of the Koran in Sweden and the Netherlands.

On that occasion, the demonstrators burned the portraits of the Danish anti-Islamic activist Rasmus Paludan, as well as the flags of Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Local authorities blocked the streets leading to the embassy, where more than 200 police and soldiers were deployed, and the building was surrounded by barbed wire.

On January 21, Paludan burned a copy of the Koran during protests outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, and then the Dutch leader of the far-right Pegida movement, Edwin Wagensveld, tore up a copy of the Koran near the Dutch government headquarters.

That angered Muslims around the world who staged protests in some countries, including Indonesia, where demonstrators chanted "Allah is great" and demanded the closure of the Swedish Embassy in Jakarta.

Previously, the Indonesian Government strongly condemned the burning of the Koran and called the Swedish ambassador Marina Berg for a conversation.
