World Cup fever, today a draw to determine the groups of the World Cup in Qatar
The draw for the groups for the upcoming World Cup to be held in Qatar from November 18st to December 21th will start tonight in Doha, starting at 18 pm.
This WC will be the last to feature 32 national teams divided into eight groups of four and the top two teams from each group will play in the knockout phase of the next 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. 48 national teams will play.
At the next World Cup, there will be 16 national teams with three selections each, of which 32 will secure a place in the knockout phase.
For tonight's draw, the national teams will be divided into four hats determined according to the March FIFA rankings, with the exception of the host Qatar, which is automatically a winner in Group A.
The other holders: Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain and Portugal will be divided into the other seven groups.
In the second hat will be the current world runner-up Croatia along with Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico, Uruguay, Switzerland and the United States.

Our northern neighbor Serbia is in the third hat along with Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Poland, South Korea and Tunisia, while in the last hat are Canada, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Ghana and the winners of the upcoming barrage, the European between Wales and Scotland and the Intercontinental between Costatica - New Zealand and Perry - Australia / United Arab Emirates.
The draw will be semi-conducted and it will not be possible to find national teams from the same continent in the same group, with the exception of the European ones, where at most two selections from the old continent can be in the same group.
The draw will start with the draw of the selections from the first hat, first the national team will be drawn and then the group in which they will play. This will be followed by the drawing of the second, then the third and finally the fourth hat.
