- UEFA has long intended to discuss the situation in Belarus at the upcoming meeting - said the letter of the president of UEFA, Aleksandar Ceferin, sent to 100 members of the European Parliament.

This is a direct answer to the Polish MP Tomasz Frankovski, a member of the Commission for Culture of the European Parliament.

A hundred MPs from all political groups asked UEFA in the middle of the month to expel Belarus over its ties to Russia and the issue of respect for human rights in the country.

– UEFA is monitoring the worrying development of the events you mentioned – replied Ceferin.

The qualifiers for the European Championship, which will be held from June 14 to July 14 next year in Germany, began this week. The qualification of Belarus starts on Saturday at 18.00:XNUMX against Switzerland, and the match will be played at the "Karagjorge" stadium in Novi Sad, Serbia.
