Moto GP: First pole position for Marc Marquez in three years

Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez has taken pole position ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix at the Motegi Circuit.

This is the first pole position for the Spanish motorcyclist after a break of three years. For the last time he started from the first position precisely at Motegi.

Marquez reached the pole position with a time of 1:55.214 minutes, followed by Joan Zarco with a gap of 208 thousandths of a second and Brad Binder who was 323 thousandths of a second behind.

Maverick Viñales, Jorge Martin, Ales Espargaro, Jack Miller, Miguel Oliveira, Fabio Quartararo and Luca Marini also placed among the top 10 in qualifying.

In the Moto 2 class, pole position went to Spaniard Aaron Canet, while in the weakest Moto 3 class, Tatsuki Suzuki was the fastest.
