Moscow: Ukraine is trying to penetrate the Belgorod region to disrupt talks between Putin and Trump

Russia today accused the Ukrainian military of attempting a new incursion into Russia's border areas, this time in the western Belgorod region, allegedly to disrupt talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which took place today, reports "Medusa".

The Russian Defense Ministry claims that Ukrainian forces tried but failed to break through to the towns of Demidovka and Prilesye, reportedly carrying out five attacks throughout the day. Russian military officials estimate that around 200 Ukrainian soldiers took part in the operation, although none reportedly managed to set foot in the Belgorod region.

He said the situation in the Belgorod region is difficult because Ukrainian forces are massively using artillery in attacks on populated areas. According to him, 29 artillery attacks and 49 drone attacks have been registered in the Krasnoyarsk region.

The governor added that a bus hit an explosive device on the road near the village of Grafovka, injuring three people. On the other hand, all Russian and pro-Russian Telegram channels indicate that the situation is very unclear without details about the actual penetration of Ukrainian forces.

An evacuation of civilians has been declared in the town of Krasnaya Yaruga, located 11 kilometers from the Ukrainian-Russian border, indicating that the sabotage incursion by Ukrainian forces could be quite deep.

As early as May 2023, Ukrainian forces made a limited incursion into the Belgorod region with major initial successes, only to withdraw to Ukraine after the consolidation of Russian defenses.
