On the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of the Ukrainian city of Bucha, in which the Russian army is accused of a terrible massacre of the civilian population, the chairman of the OSCE, the head of the Macedonian diplomacy Bujar Osmani via video link he addressed the Buchanan summit which was held today in Kyiv.

The summit was convened in order to recall the crimes committed in Ukraine, and in particular the massacre in Kyiv's Bucha district when more than 460 people were killed by Russian military forces.

In his address, in his capacity as Chairman of the OSCE, Osmani called on the Russian Federation for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the unconditional withdrawal of its military forces and reminded that the names Bucha, Irpin and Mariupol are a clear reminder that peace and human dignity are not ours. always guaranteed.

While the international community demands justice, he called for the victims of these crimes not to be forgotten, stressing that the massive destruction throughout Ukraine still continues, and that means a complete disregard for the value of human life.

"Responsibility must prevail." There cannot be impunity for war crimes, the international community cannot remain silent and allow the perpetrators to go unpunished. Therefore, decisive action must be taken. "The violation of international humanitarian law must be resolved," emphasized Osmani.

Osmani also referred to the Moscow Mechanism of the OSCE as the first international report that gave clear indications of the crimes committed in Bucha and other places in Ukraine, recalling that there are numerous reports from other international organizations, including the United Nations. In his capacity as Chairman of the OSCE, he also reminded that the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine is an obvious violation of international law, the principles of the UN Charter and the principles of the OSCE.

"The Russian war against Ukraine is tearing down the foundations of the OSCE, which goes against the principles we agreed on and firmly respect." The vision of the OSCE as a center of intercontinental cooperative security is being put to the test. The Presidency of North Macedonia will do everything to protect the principles and commitments of the OSCE. "We should continue our support and help Ukraine rebuild the country after the war is over," Osmani said.

The Buchan summit also aimed at adopting the final document, the Buchan Declaration of Responsibility for Crimes Committed on the Territory of Ukraine, about which Minister Osmani said in his national capacity:

"In my national capacity, I would like to emphasize that North Macedonia stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in these most difficult times. We support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. "The perpetrators of the terrible crimes in Bucha and other places in Ukraine must be brought to justice," Osmani said.

By the way, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, addressed the Buchan summit, and the latter, among other things, aimed to increase international support for the establishment of a Special Tribunal for crimes of aggression committed against Ukraine, which should close the gap in the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.
