Ministry of Education and Culture: The distribution of approved textbooks for the sixth grade will end next week
The Ministry of Education and Science announced that through the purchase of textbooks for which they do not own the copyright and through the printing of those that are in their possession, a circulation of 1.374.324 textbooks has been secured so far, and over 98 percent of them have already been distributed. The textbooks from the first to the fifth grade, for which the Ministry of Education owns the copyrights, have been completely procured and delivered to the schools this year, as well as the textbooks from the seventh to the ninth grade. While the distribution of the approved textbooks for the sixth grade - natural sciences, Macedonian and Albanian language, will be completed during the next week, and the Ministry informs that the mathematics textbook has also been approved and after completing all the procedures, it will be possible to print and deliver.
For comparison, five years ago, that is, in 2018, 823.604 textbooks were purchased. In 2019, a circulation of 655.934 textbooks was acquired, in 2020 a total of 732.634 textbooks. In the school year 2021/2022, a total of 748.421 textbooks were purchased. The data show that the textbook, as one of the basic tests for mastering the teaching material in all subjects, is significantly more accessible, unlike in past years - say the Ministry of Education and Culture.
They add that after 15 years, for the first time, new textbooks have been provided for 150 subjects in secondary vocational education, as well as in high school, and they are printed and delivered to schools, according to the expressed needs through an electronic application of the Ministry, before the beginning of the school year.
The textbook is one of the teaching tools used to achieve the goals of the educational process and should enable the achievement of national standards of knowledge, learning with understanding and raising creativity, innovation and critical thinking among students. The production of a quality textbook is a complex process that depends on several factors, independent of systemic influence - the Ministry informs.
