The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the adoption of the European Parliament Resolution on the Republic of Northern Macedonia at today's plenary session in Strasbourg.

"As before, the European Parliament sent a clear political message about the importance of accelerating the European integration process and starting the accession negotiations with the European Union with Northern Macedonia immediately. "It is encouraging that the text of the Resolution has received the support of a large number of members of the European Parliament, which reflects the support of the wider political spectrum within the EU," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It adds that it is particularly important that the European Parliament reaffirms the strategic importance of Northern Macedonia and the entire Western Balkans region and their future as part of the European family.

"The start of accession negotiations and EU membership is a strong investment in stability, not only for the countries of the region, but also for the EU, especially in the current security context in Europe." In this regard, we welcome the call of the European Parliament to overcome bilateral issues outside the accession process, which is in the spirit and principles of the accession process. "Parliament also recognizes the country's reform progress and its readiness to start negotiations with the EU immediately."
