The Macedonian National Committee of the International Council of Museums (MNC ICOM), within its activities from 1994 until now, and on the occasion of the celebration of May 18 - International Museum Day, organizes annual Consultations in accordance with the proposed topics of the International Committee of museums - ICOM.

In accordance with this established practice of MNC ICOM, this year the conference is on the topic "The Power of Museums" and is held at the NI Museum of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, on May 18, 2022.

The conference was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, within the Annual Program for financing projects of national interest in culture for 2022, and the opening of the conference was attended by the Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska Stojcevska.

The Conference on "The Power of Museums", organized by MNC ICOM, is attended by a large number of museum professionals from the country, and for the fourteenth time were awarded the traditional awards "May 18 - International Museum Day" for outstanding achievements in the museum industry. for 2021. The awarding of prizes is an incentive for museums and museum workers for further work and engagement, in order to achieve the highest quality standards in the museum industry.

Winners of the awards "May 18 - International Museum Day" for outstanding achievements in the museum industry for 2021 are the following:

- Award in the category Museum of the Year - PI Museum of the City of Skopje

- Award in the category Museum Project of the Year - NI National Gallery of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, for the project "Dimche Koco - Jubilee 110 years since birth"

- Award in the category Museum Worker of the Year by Jasminka Namiceva, curatorial advisor from the Public Institution Museum of the City of Skopje

- Award in the category External Museum Associate of UMNO.mk

- Award in the category External Museum Associate of Bojana Janeva for the project "Latest Normal"

Winners of the commendation in the category Museum of the Year - NI Museum of Contemporary Art - Skopje; in the category Museum Project of the Year - the National Bank Museum for the project "Video Notes of the National Bank Museum"; and in the category Museum Project of the Year - Slavica Krstic for the project "Churches and Monasteries in Zegligovo".

Before the beginning of the conference, the exhibition entitled "Feasts for the Living, Ancestors, Gods and Saints" was opened, organized by the NI Museum of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, as well as the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Macedonian National Committee of the "Blue Shield".
