The IMF announced that it had reached an agreement with Ukraine for $15,6 billion in aid

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Ukrainian government on a $15,6 billion aid package.

The plan should help "a gradual economic recovery, while creating conditions for long-term growth in the context of post-conflict reconstruction and on the way to membership in the European Union," the IMF said.

The agreement will be presented "in the coming weeks" to the fund's Board of Directors for final approval.

Despite the difficulties, the Ukrainian government managed to "maintain financial and macroeconomic stability, especially thanks to significant international support and the implementation of sound policies
