The young people from Karposh want to decide and act at the local level

The young people from Karposh want to be involved in all decision-making and action processes at the local level. A high 60 percent of them think that they can take personal responsibility, and change something with engagement and action. Also, 53% of young people have volunteered so far, and the motivation for that is that they want to help an individual or a group of people. This is confirmed by the research: "Needs of young people at the local level - local youth banks", prepared by the youth organization "Youth Can", which was supported by the US Embassy in Skopje, said the Municipality of Karpos.

Regarding this topic, an online presentation of this research was held today, which covered the municipalities of Karpos, Gjorce Petrov and Aerodrom. The mayor of the municipality of Karpos, Stefan Bogoev, also participated in the hybrid event, commenting on the results of the analysis and affirming the projects of the local self-government related to the youth.

- I am glad that young people are satisfied with the parks and green areas, and absolutely, these are the areas where we continue to work even more. Many of the respondents point out that the main problem is the aggressive stray dogs. And this is a reality! In that direction, as a municipality we allocate two million denars to the city PE "Laika" to work on mapping and humane treatment of dogs, said Bogoev.

However, a high 73,8 percent of young people in Karposh want to leave our country. They are generally satisfied with the developments in the municipality, local projects, etc., but this is an issue that covers a broader context.

- This fact is disappointing for me as a young mayor, as a person who in the past years has significantly worked on this issue together with the entire youth sector. But if you have a rule of law situation like we have these days - we can not expect young people to want to live here when they see how the legal system works. Young people must expect legal stability, to invest in themselves, to invest in their own business, in an idea. But for that to happen, security and respect for the law are needed, said Mayor Bogoev.

In the municipality of Karposh, the research covered 168 young people, and the organization "Youth can" included a focus group, in order to obtain even more relevant answers.
