The President of the European Council Charles Michel said in Sarajevo tonight that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a clear European perspective.

Michel said that the European Geopolitical Community is not a substitute for the European path of the Western Balkan countries, but an opportunity for their greater cooperation with the EU, although it is still unknown what exactly that would mean.

"I am really happy to be here to reaffirm your commitment to the EU. Let me repeat what I said in Bled. I am really convinced that the Western Balkans need the EU, but the EU also needs the Western Balkans. "It's time for a new flywheel in the EU."

After today's meeting with members of the BiH Presidency in Sarajevo, Michel announced that a meeting of the leaders of the 23 EU member states with the leaders of the Western Balkans will take place on June 27.

"We want to deepen cooperation and continue the dialogue," Michel added.

According to him, he wanted to hear first hand what BiH officials are concerned about, as well as to find out what the priorities are for the EU to find a way to help.

"As we speak here, Russia is attacking the Ukrainian people, and in the 1990s BiH felt the terrible consequences of the war. "You know how important our support is, to act together," said Michelle, who is on a first visit to BiH.

The European official said that the consequences of the Ukrainian war are felt equally by everyone on the European continent, whether it is a change in the prices of oil, food or energy in general.
