The Ministry of Justice is reviewing the proposal-initiative for constitutional amendments from a technical point of view, before it is sent to the Government.

This was announced by the Ministry of Justice in a statement to MIA.

From there, they say that after it is ready, it will be sent to the Government, which should consider and adopt it. Then, the proposal-initiative will be submitted to the Parliament.

According to information from MIA, the procedure for bringing the constitutional amendments should start in the middle of June.

The working group at the session on Friday adopted the Proposal initiative on the need to amend the Constitution with guidelines for amendments and additions.

The changes are in the Preamble section by adding several nations. After the Bosniak people, the words: Bulgarian people, Croatian people, Montenegrin people, Slovenian people, Jewish people, Egyptian people are added, said the president of the working group, Margarira Tsatsa Nikolovska, after the meeting. The second amendment, as she added, is in the section on the diaspora and in amendment 34, which is replaced by article 49 and amendment 2. In this amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia, which replaces article 49 and amendment 2, after the Bosniak people are add the words Bulgarian people, Croatian, Montenegrin people, Slovenian people, Jewish people, Egyptian people.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski invited the leader of the opposition Hristia Mickoski to a meeting where, among other things, the country's Euro-Atlantic path would be discussed. Mickoski agreed to a meeting by also asking to discuss what will happen to the country if the constitutional amendments are not adopted. The opposition VMRO-DPMNE opposes constitutional amendments under these, as they state, conditions.

It is expected that this meeting would take place from the weekend onwards, considering that Kovacevski is on a business trip to Bratislava.

The deadline for proposed amendments is November, when the screening of the EC should be completed and the second intergovernmental conference will be held and negotiations will begin by chapter.
