The Minister of Culture demands that VMRO-DPMNE and the Left vote for the new Law on the Use of the Macedonian Language

The law on the use of the Macedonian language is stuck in the Parliament because of MPs from the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE, the Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska said tonight. In a guest appearance on MRT1 news, Kostadinovska-Stojchevska mentioned that by adopting a new law on the use of the Macedonian language, the areas in which the Macedonian standard language and its Cyrillic script are used will be expanded and that this provides the basis for adopting a national strategy for the Macedonian language. which allows, as he pointed out, to further preserve its integrity.
Two months ago, thirty-six deputies from the parliamentary group of VMRO-DPMNE, as well as the two deputies from the Left and the deputy from the Democratic Union, Pavle Trajanov, did not vote for the new Law on the use of the Macedonian language.
With the adoption of a new law on the use of the Macedonian language, the areas in which the Macedonian standard language and its Cyrillic script are compulsorily used will be expanded, the Ministry of Culture claims. The scope of mandatory proofreading of published texts will be expanded, and mandatory proofreading will be performed only by a proofreader with a proofreading license. It was explained that the general and individual acts of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities and local self-government units, official documents and texts of these authorities, but also of public establishments and institutions in the field of culture, education and the science. International agreements ratified in accordance with the Constitution will be proofread, but publications and textbooks issued in the Macedonian language, master's and doctoral theses written in the Macedonian language, as well as those translated into the Macedonian language by others will also be proofread. languages, posters, leaflets, prospectuses, banners and other types of advertising material in physical form of legal entities, further product names, packaging, stickers, instructions, declarations, certificates, medicines, bills, invoices, payment slips, receipts and the like.
