Minister Petrovska visiting the Supreme Allied Command of NATO in Mons
Today in Mons, Belgium, the Minister of Defense Slavjanka Petrovska visited the Supreme Allied Command of NATO and met with its commander, General Christopher Cavoli and the elders from the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia positioned in this command.
"North Macedonia will continue its active participation in the multinational NATO forces in Latvia, Bulgaria and Romania, which is an undoubted display of our strong contribution to the collective defense and security of every inch of NATO territory," said Minister Petrovska at the meeting.
Petrovska said that our country fully supports the new Strategic Concept of the Alliance and the initiatives resulting from the adoption of the Strategic Concept confirmed at the last Summit of the Alliance.
The minister informed General Cavoli that the package of NATO capabilities that was accepted is already in the implementation phase in North Macedonia and that the country continues to invest in defense - a fact that can be seen through the growth of the defense budget and the allocation of one third from the budget for modernization and equipping.
Petrovska and Kavoli also discussed the possibilities for training and exercises as a way to develop interoperability, with Minister Petrovska saying that North Macedonia will continue to develop the army training ground "Krivolak", which is our biggest and most important training resource.
General Cavoli expressed gratitude for the place and role that North Macedonia has in strengthening the collective defense of the Alliance, the regional focus and contribution with the army formations and added that with our country's membership in the Alliance, NATO is stronger and the Euro-Atlantic area is safer.
In Mons, the minister also met with the elders from the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia who are placed in positions in the Supreme Allied Command, whom she thanked for their dedication and professionalism in performing tasks in one of the two NATO commands.
