Milkov: Angelov will return to Skopje when there are suitable conditions for that
The Bulgarian ambassador to the country, Angel Angelov, could return to Skopje, when appropriate conditions are created for that, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Nikolay Milkov, said today.
- If a high-level dialogue begins, in which he should also participate, the ambassador can return at any moment, added Milkov at a press conference where he informed about the activities of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Commenting on the statement of the head of diplomacy, Bujar Osmani, that the decision to invite Ambassador Angelov to consultations in Sofia was an unfounded, unargued and disproportionate move, Milkov said that such a procedure reflected Bulgaria's conviction that the situation had "gone too far" and that "such measure is necessary".
- If the Republic of North Macedonia considers that the summoning of the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Bulgaria to North Macedonia, Angel Angelov, is disproportionate, perhaps they do not understand the seriousness of the situation, said Milkov.
According to him, at the present moment it is necessary for Ambassador Angelov to be in Sofia "in order to clarify a series of approaches" in relation to the Bulgarian policy towards the country.
– The measure is coordinated at the highest level. This is not something that was randomly decided or decided only at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is a national response, added Milkov.
