Due to debts as stated by the European Handball Federation Vardar 1961 did not get the right to play in the Champions League next season. The former executive director of the club, Davor Stojanoski says that the decision of EHF is incorrect and that it does not refer to the alleged debt.

Today the first man of the club, Mihajlo Mihajlovski at a press conference (which was attended by the handball player of the team, Stojance Stoilov) said more details about the current difficult situation of Vardar whose players in the past period were in uncertainty, and those announced confirmed reinforcements, whether they will wear the "red-black" jersey.

Mihajlovski announced it Vlado Nedanovski for the coach of the team, unless the current helmsman changes his mind David Davis who prefers to lead the team in the Champions League.

- Witnesses that happened to us, I gave statements from Cologne, we made an official statement, some things to say, what we did these two years when we took over Vardar and what happened to us during this period. With respect to Sergei Samsonenko who with Vardar managed to win two European champion titles. The man left the club for his own reasons, and I, as a former sponsor, set out to save the club. We knew what the goal was to achieve, to be among the 16 best in Europe.

In agreement with the city institutions, without their promises and firm decisions I would not have undertaken, I knew how much I need funds, how much I can provide with sponsors. I know what the situation is in business, in bad times for the club we got into a pandemic, energy, economic crisis, then the Russian aggression ... There were people who convinced me, but I did not get any help. At least 40-45 percent I expected to receive help, with their own virtue to realize it. These two years, a big thank you to the sponsors who helped the club these two years, among the main sponsors like "Vatrostalna", "Komercijalna Banka", "MA Gaming - Admiral" and "Euronickel". Companies, each helped according to their capabilities helped - said Mihajlovski.

Mihajlovski is surprised by the decision of EHF, such exclusion from the Champions League, because the club was not previously warned that this could happen if the payment is delayed.

- We signed with four players for the new season, Duarte, Cechte, Andreev and Andjelic, I was convinced that they will be 20% stronger, not only because of the reinforcements, but because of the current players who played. This was planned until June 17, after which we were unpleasantly surprised. I met Wiederer in Vienna and during the Final Four in Cologne, those from the West think differently. We paid 500.000 euros on May 31, for which we had until May 15. It was strange and symptomatic for me that no one from EHF announced that if we do not pay, we will not play. In the first year we had vicissitudes, but I signed that I take over the debts of 2,5 million euros.

In the second year we were conditioned with a deposit of one million euros. Our club did not receive a single lawsuit from the players. It has never been decisive, if you do not pay me by then, I will take you to court. We had a meeting with the players, we have to keep thinking about the future, we would not like to think about dying out, we want to compete, to make a top team that will fight for titles.

And before this happened, my personal idea was to save Vardar, to be on healthy feet. I want to retire from the club because I am involved in businesses. I announced my resignation in front of the players, but I will not leave the club, I want primarily to finish things with Samsonenko. So that the same problems don't happen again next year, I want everyone to be paid in the next 2-3 months. A total of 37 companies received invitations to be sponsors of Vardar. I appeal to the Government, the city, to powerful companies to help Vardar continue the tradition of being a Macedonian sports brand - Mihajlovski told the media.
