Mitsotakis: Zero tolerance for sexual violence and any kind of exploitation of children

Zero tolerance for sexual violence against children, but also for any attempt to exploit them, says Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is the main goal of the National Action Plan for the Protection of Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, which is being discussed by the competent committees in the Greek Parliament .
In his speech, Mitsotakis presented the basic guidelines of the concrete plan that starts with prevention and protection of children, continues with rapid investigation of cases and ends with conviction of perpetrators and care for victims.
- The national action plan also reorganizes the way all services react when a case occurs. I would say that the plan crystallizes a code of actions, a manual I would say, with faster reflexes and a new culture in the investigation and prosecution of such crimes. And this is the goal of the two innovations we are proposing: The single national protocol for case management, so that everyone will do the same when we face a case of sexual abuse, but also a National Archive for records and surveillance of cases, Mitsotakis pointed out.
He added that it is planned to open two centers in Thessaloniki and Athens for the care of children victims of violence, as well as centers for supporting families.
12 ministries are involved in the implementation of the plan, and the coordinator is State Minister Akis Skertsos.
