Mitsotakis: The EU perspective on the Balkans should be kept alive and tangible
Support for the EU perspective of the region, with a message that a lively and tangible process should be kept, said the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in his speech at the White House reception, after the meeting with the US President Joe Biden.
- The Balkans are also quite fragile. We need to keep the European perspective alive and tangible. Greece is a pillar of regional prosperity and security and we will always seek peaceful means to resolve our differences with our neighbors. "I am convinced that we can achieve that," Mitsotakis said in a section on the region.
Among other things, the Greek Prime Minister referred to the energy and the new liquefied gas terminal in Alexandroupoli, emphasizing that "the port of Alexandroupoli in northeastern Greece, only 500 miles from the Ukrainian border, apart from the military importance for NATO, is quickly becoming a regional energy center and entry point in liquefied natural gas in the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
